I have always been drawn to the edge. Where land meets sea and land and sea meet sky.
My constant companions whilst working in these remote and lonely places have been birds.
Gulls, ravens, curlews and wrens have shared their lives and spaces with me, and individual birds have marked significant events in my life.
They are always in the background as I gather the inspiration for my work.
I have been able to break away from purely responding to “place” and experiment with expressing the emotions and feelings of the creatures which live and survive on the edge.
I am honoured to be able to exhibit in the amazing space in The Wing at The Battle of Britain Memorial, which is a testament to the men who lived, fought and died on the edge at that fateful point in our history.
